I'm not sure why, but I think there are tides underwater. I watched a video about the Marianas trench and there were tide marks in the seaweed lining a particular cliff. They hypothesized that it was because of the extreme depth in combination with particular rhythmic currents.

How did marianas trench decide what their name was going to be for the band?

Marianas Trench has been known to make up stories about how they got their name in interviews. One story is they were seal hunting in the Arctic and Ian said "If we get out of this alive we're naming the band Marianas Trench." Or so Josh Ramsay said in an interview..... Josh also said that any other name they could think of was already taken, but I'm pretty sure that's not a lie.

Where is Tuscarora Deep?

The Tuscarora Deep is a submarine terrain feature along the entire east coast of Honshu, the main island of Japan. It is continuous with the Kuril Trench to the north and the Marianas Trench to the south. It was discovered by USS Tuscarora during a series of voyages in 1873-74 to explore the idea of laying a submarine telegraphic cable from the US to Japan. At the time it was believed to be the deepest part of any ocean, but it was later learned that the southern end of the Marianas Trench is deeper.
