Friction is any force that opposes another force, like the force of gravity on a rocket or the tread of a shoe on a court. Without friction a swimmer would not move through the water when they pull/kick. Friction also keeps their togs on :D

∙ 11y agoYou need to understand what friction is first before you find out how it affects something your doing. Friction is when two objects are pushed together or rubbed against each other, which means when your swimming your making friction with the water. This is what slows you down. You may or may not have noticed the controversy with the swimsuits that were specifically designed to make you glide through the water better. I personally think that it is best to look this up on a official website that tells you about it than this.
