In Houston there is this program we call English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes. ESL classes are sponsored by churches, schools, and libraries. ESL classes at churches, public schools, and libraries are usually free. The lessons are focused on English conversation and basic reading and writing skills. These classes are good for beginners who know very little English. Some classes meet several times a week, while others may meet only one or two times per week. Some classes may be for one hour, while others will last two or three hours.
