Yes, there are many different classes of ghosts and paranormal activity

The most basic type is called an EVP, or Electronic Voice Phenomenon, which is the voice of a spirit recorded on a digital recorder that was not heard at the time of the recording. EVPs include voices, strange whistles or footsteps, objects moving, etc.

Next are residuals. These are basically like tapes that play over and over. They are not intelligent, so they cannot answer your questions. Most residual hauntings are voice phenomenon or shadows. Residuals may be captured in quartz or natural magnets and fuel the activity

Intelligent hauntings are actual spirits that can answer your questions, provided they have the energy to do so. Most intelligent hauntings are sound-related, where you ask a question, one knock for yes, two knocks for no.

Next is the hard core stuff. They have stuff called orbs, which are balls of energy that spirits manifest themselves in. It is a large ball of electrostatic energy. Spirits can manifest themselves into balls, shadows, and even full body apparitions.

The last and most hardcore of all hauntings are demonic entities. These are souls that have been corrupted and will harm the living by pushing, hitting, scratching, strangling, possession, or even sometimes by killing. The true way to know if an entity is demonic is when you get scratched, you will have three scratch marks in a row, the mark of the Trinity. A place called Bobby Mackey's music store is a big place of demonic activity that supposedly has a portal to Hell in which the demonic entities come from.

So far these are the varieties of hauntings and types of ghosts. However, there still may be others we do not yet know about...so keep your eyes open!
