There are different ways of interpreting the scriptures. One way is simply to read them literally, in context, and find what the author originally intended to say. However, this often does not result in an answer that is very helpful.

If the first answer is not what was being sought, one can use a trick that seems to come naturally when studying The Bible, to look for another answer to the same question. It is a trick that Burton L. Mack (Who Wrote the New Testament) sees happen all the time, in the classrooms of the School of Theology at Claremont. At first the study of a text may not seem to support a traditional Christian conviction, or the answer one hopes to find in the Bible. But with a little ingenuity, one can set up the comparison again with other emphases and make the answer come out right. Following these simple guidelines there can be many different ways of interpreting the same scripture.

How community affects culture?

Effective communication with people of different cultures is especially challenging. Cultures provide people with ways of thinking--ways of seeing, hearing, and interpreting the world. Thus the same words can mean different things to people from different cultures, even when they talk the "same" language. When the languages are different, and translation has to be used to communicate, the potential for misunderstandings increases.
