every BMW stereo should have been seupplied with a radio code card,
if this is not available, then the full serial number of the stereo is required, preferably along with the chassis number of the vehicle it is from.

Its a factory security number to prevent the filchering of the radio The codes vary from BMW radio to radio depending on the serial number located on the back of the radio. If you lose battery power, the radio resets itself (supposedly to prevent theft) and a 6 digit code needs to be input into the radio to re-activate it. You need to take the BMW to your local dealer and they'll remove the radio, input the serial # into their system and it will relay what the 6 digit code is. Hope this helps.
