Lot's of teachers use their summers for supplementary jobs. My physics teacher works on atomic research and my English teacher used to edit. Many teachers take extra classes to become principals, guidance counsellors, or professors. Of course, summer is also a time when people are looking for outdoors work, so a few of the teachers in my school used to form a painting business every summer. Also, there are a number of ways teachers can expand their horizons. For example, many programs exist that send English-speaking teachers from any field to teach English as a second language in any country.
