Every Browning has a serial number on it. The location depends on the model.
All Brownings have serial numbers.

Go to Browning's web sight. They have a page that will tell you how to read their serial numbers. I just found out that two of my brownings were made in 1981 and other neat fqs!
American Brownings were made from 1940-49. Please re ask with the serial number
Go to the Browning home page www.browning.com/services where they list serial numbers of all brownings. you can send browning the serial number of your gun and for a price they will send you the history of your particular gun.

They did not keep track of the first 180,000 baby brownings,but I can say that it was made from 1955-1958.
They were made in the 1930s and there is no serial list by year. These are NOT Brownings but were made for the SEARS store by various makers, but not the Browning Arms Co. It was built on Brownings patent and made by Stevens.
