yes but very little
What a Flute is made of depends on the type of flute. Most flutes are made of metal, and these are the ones you'll see used in an orchestra. But there are bamboo and other wooden flutes. Additionally, the recorder, a type of flute, is made of plastic and is commonly available (as are other plastic flutes).
Metal flutes became popular in the early 19th century, when improvements in metalworking technology allowed for more precise construction and better sound quality compared to wooden flutes. The Boehm system, developed in the mid-19th century, revolutionized flute design by utilizing a metal body with keys, pads, and mechanisms that are still used in modern flutes today.
No, with the exception of the flutes, all woodwind instruments have reeds, flutes used to have reeds (similar to Oboe reeds) and that is why they are still classed as woodwind.
there are mostly percussion instruments like drums and bellsthen there are this wooden flutes and other rare wind instruments.
Medieval flutes were usually made entirely of wood. There were transverse flutes and beaked flutes. We do not see all that many wooden transverse flutes today, though they are made and sold for various kinds of music. Beaked flutes include recorders, which were used in the Late Middle Ages or earlier in a form very like what is widely available in music shops today.
I've played both but mainly the metal one more often. The wooden one gives a more asian-ish sound to it while the metal one is just a plian normal sounding flute. An example of this is in one of the final fantasy songs, they used a wooden flute instead of a metal one because since final fantasy is japanese, (i think), they used a wooden flute. Hope that helps :)
There are many variations of the flute...the most common and the ones that most relate the the common "C" flute are the piccolo, alto flute and bass flute. There are glass flutes, bamboo flutes, Irish flutes, etc.
