Yes and no. No, there are no silver colored dollar coins being produced. No, there are no coins being produced today intended for circulation that do contain silver. But yes, there are Silver Eagles which are larger than the traditional "silver dollar" and they contain 1 troy ounce of silver and these are being produced today. Even though they have a face value of one dollar, the mint sells them for close to spot price, expect to pay around $34-35 today for a 2012 silver eagle in uncirculated, and close to $90 for one in proof condition.
The only Kennedy half-dollars after 1971 to have any silver are in Bicentennial (40%) silver Proof and Unciculated sets sold from the Mint. In 1992 the Mint started making "Silver Proof" sets again with 90% silver coins.
No, the US didn't make any silver dollars in 1932.
The US didn't make any silver dollars in the 1960s.
The last true silver dollars were made in 1935. That year marked the end of 90% silver dollars. The next silver dollars were made in 1971. These were Eisenhower dollars. They are not made of silver but rather of copper and nickel.
None of the Eisenhower dollars regardless of date or mintmark struck for general circulation have any silver in them or are worth more than face value. Only proof and special uncirculated collectors coins sold from the Mint have any silver.
No; there were no silver half dollars produced between 1971 and 1991.
The U.S. didn't mint any silver dollars in the 1940s.
They're not silver, they're brass. The last silver dollars were made in 1935. In any case Sacajawea dollars are not rare at all, and any that you get in change or from a bank are only worth face value.
Half dollars minted before 1965 are 90% silver, and those from 1965-70 are 40% silver. Then with silver dollars, the last year for ones with actual silver in them was 1935 (there were no dollar coins from 1936 to 1970).
Silver dollars have .7737oz of silver in each.
In general, none of the Eisenhower dollars issued for circulation contain any silver or are worth more than face value. The Mint did make special collectors coins that are 40% silver but they were not placed into circulation. Post new question with dates/mintmarks for a more specific answer.
One dollar is the same as any other dollar. As opposed to silver dollars being worth more than paper dollars.
