Yes, if only because they are raced to the point of hurting themselves. Racing is hard on any horse but especially the latest refined thoroughbreds, they are slim but very delicate.

Do throughbreds run faster than other breeds?

The answer is yes. Other breeds of horses have been known to out-race thoroughbreds. The Morgan horse is one of these, who was recorded to successfully out-run two valuable thoroughbreds. The standardbred is another breed that can out-race thoroughbreds. I own a nine year old, 15.1hh stb mare and she has out-raced 16hh+ 13 year old successful racing thoroughbreds.

Technically, the only hot blooded horses are Arabians and Thoroughbreds. The cold blooded horses are the draft breeds. All other breeds are warm bloods.

What is a pedigree horse?

A horse with a pedigree is considered a "purebred" meaning he is not of mixed heritage. The purest and oldest breed of domestic horse is the Arabian and all other breeds (including Thoroughbreds) can trace their lines back to the Arabian Horse. As new breeds are developed, different purebred breeds are crossed until the desired traits are achieved.

Are thoroughbreds graceful?

Thoroughbreds, just like other horses, are graceful in their own way. Personally, I belive that thoroughbreds, along with morgans, are one of the most graceful, beautiful, and spirited horse breeds ever. But, of course, it does depend upon your preferences of horses. Here are a few pictures/information of thoroughbreds http://horses.about.com/od/breeds/p/thoroughbred.htm http://www.thesavvyhorse.com/2img/youngstallion.jpg http://www.westpointtb.com/site-images/banner_about.jpg http://www.cfgphoto.com/data/media/366/CFG7089.jpg

Are rocky mountain horses fast?

my family has never owned a Rocky mountain horse but we have had appaloosas, Quarter horses, Thoroughbreds, Oldenburgs, Shires, miniatures and a few others others and we've operated boarding stables for almost 20 years. From this experience i would hypotheses that a Rocky mountain horse is no faster than most other breeds but that instead the horse was bread to be nimble and surefooted. the fastest breeds are the so called Hot blooded breeds which are thoroughbreds and Arabians, this is why these breeds are used for racing. the cold blooded breeds are the draft horses so called to my knowledge for their passive, docile nature and slower more steady pace. there are may breads in between.
