∙ 10y agoToday's computers wouldn't be what they are without type writers coming first. First was the type writer, then the electric type writer. With so many people knowing how to type using the Qwerty method computer makers knew that businesses would be their main customers, so they made the keyboards the same key layout as type writers when the keyboards were introduced. Before keyboards were introduced all computer input was cards with holes punched into them in sequences that made sense to the computer.
