Kentucky is due north of Tennessee. Virginia is north-northwest of Tennessee. Tennessee is bordered by Kentucky and Virginia to the north, North Carolina to the east, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi to the south, and Arkansas and Missouri to the west.
North Carolina is just above South Carolina.
West Virginia is pretty much due North of South Carolina.
