Advantages of wind farms;

·The wind is free and with modern technology it can be captured efficiently.

·Once the wind turbine is built the energy it produces does not cause green house gases.

·Although wind turbines can be very tall each takes up only a small plot of land. This means that the land below can still be used

·Many people find wind farms good to look at.

·Remote areas that are not connected to the electricity power grid can have wind turbines to they can get electricity.

·Wind turbines are available in a range of sizes which means loads of people can have them-from in your garden to towns.

Disadvantages of wind farms;

· The strength of the wind varies so you could have no wind so no electricity,

· Many people think that the countryside should be left untouched and left natural so people can enjoy it.

· Wind turbines are noisy. Each one can generate the same level of noise as a family car travelling at 70 mph.

· Many people think that they are ugly and an eyesore.

· When wind turbines are being manufactured some pollution is produced. This is further exacerbated during their transport to site and during their construction

Large wind farms are needed to provide entire communities with enough electricity. For example, the largest single turbine can only provide enough electricity for 475 homes.


Personally I think they are good but some people don't like them. It's for you to decide.
