My dad works in computer security and has been fighting this upcoming virus for a while. Yes, you may be affected if you use Mozilla Firefox. This virus attacks a flaw in the operating system windows. If you have been affected, the virus will turn off the anti-virus and will make the system believe the patch from Microsoft has been installed. Thus it is an annoying thing to get rid of. It is not a guarantee you will be affected as it could come through a local network or you could download it yourself. It is normally downloaded without you knowing as a small file. Later on it, while the system is idle, it will download the rest of the virus.

Those of you that use macs are facing an entirely different problem. Macs will not be affected unless they are also running a Microsoft operating system. This virus uses a flaw in Microsoft and thus will not affect macs unless the user has changed their system to use Microsoft. (First question I asked my dad since I am a mac user.)

Last, just because the media says it will start on April 1st doesn't necessarily mean it will. If you plan on shutting off your computer to avoid the problem and then use the computer on the second, if the virus has been activated, your computer will be affected then.
