No, links are not allowed in the discussion area of questions. Links are only allowed in two places and they are either on your profile page or on the question under "Sources and Related links".

For now, you cannot relink a different picture to your WikiAnswers account profile picture, but if you used a social networking site such as Facebook, your profile picture on facebook will be the profile picture replacing the orange guy on your WikiAnswers page. For an example, I linked my Yahoo email to my WikiAnswers account, and the picture I have on Yahoo will be the picture on my WikiAnswers profile (check it out if you want).
How do you insert a link on your profile page without pasting the whole URL?
This is called a hyperlink, I'm afraid it's not possible unless you are allowed to post a hyperlink from Microsoft Word for example, and with it being a hyperlink already on the program and paste it in the profile page, it's not possible otherwise as WikiAnswers doesn't provide a hyperlink feature in the profile pages.

You do not advertise at WikiAnswers, what you can do is have links to your website via your user profile. WikiAnswers is starting to utilize Google AdWords on its site, so if you would like to advertise in the answers, my advice to you is to open an AdWords account.
