Typically, a modern plasma screen will use in the region of 300W although the power drawn is dependent on the image up to a point. A bright image will draw a little more power than a black screen. Every model is different so it's worth taking a look in the manual for each model. If the question is asked for energy conservation reasons, be aware that turning the television off whenever it is not being watched and turning the power off completely can often save more energy that choosing a marginally more efficient model.

It all depends on who made the plasma TV. Many television manufacturers have quit making plasmas because they couldn't figure out a way of making them reliable. Panasonic is the only company I am personally aware of that makes plasmas reliably and they are one of the only companies still producing them. LCD and LED televisions are the most fragile screen ever produced for the general public. It takes very little pressure applied to the screen of an LCD or LED TV to render it totally toasted and ready for the electronic recycling facility because if a screen is broken on one of these units it would cost more to repair than to replace it. Don't get me wrong though, I do like LED and LCD televisions but you just have to be aware of how little it takes to totally destroy it and take steps to protect your investment. If you have kids or friends with kids who visit your house then install your LED or LCD behind some bullet proof glass ha ha. Also don't expect any warranty, manufacturer or extended to cover such breakage, they don't cover physical damage.

This seems to be a common problem with the Phillips 42" plasma. I have one with the same problem and a friend that bought one at the same time had it also. He sent his back and got it repaired. Since then I have found out that Philips/Samsung has lowered the voltages on the Television in a service bulletin. The factory is aware of the problem but won't readily admit it. The label inside my TV set shows VE- 110v VS- 198v Vset- 195v The new factory voltages should be VE- 100v VS- 190v Vset- 188v These can be set using a volt meter and "tweeker".

Not that I am aware of, as the image you have created is unique, as it is a painting, the resemblance will be noticable but cannot be 'exact'. To be honest I would'nt worry too much.

Today's generation of plasma TVs last a long time. With newer technology there is little chance of image burn or other problems that have plagued plasmas in the past. Expect it to easily last 5-10 years.
