The phrase, "in the (or these) last days" appears five times in the NKJV New Testament: Acts 2:17 - 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.' This reference is to the coming of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost almost two thousand years ago. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 - But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! All of the characteristics Paul speaks of in this passage are commonplace among modern men. Hebrews 1:1, 2 - God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; This passage makes clear that the dividing line between "time past" and "these last days" was the ministry of Jesus. James 5:3 -Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days. This verse speaks of the last days in the past tense; as having already arrived. 2 Peter 3:3, 4 - knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." This indication is commonplace as well; scoffers who question or deny the return of Jesus. According to scripture, yes, we are living in the last days, and have been since the completion of Christ's earthly mission.
