The extent of injuries suffered or the resulting amount of damage will depend upon the car, your speed, structure of the wall and the size of the tree. Hitting either can be devastating. Since the concrete block wall would likely be wider than a tree, the forces would be spread over the width of the car. If the tree is narrower than the car, the forces would be concentrated in a smaller section of the width of the car, which might mean that the damage could penetrate more into the the passenger compartment or even split the car in half. It can also have a wraparound effect if not hit precisely dead-center and head-on, resulting in secondary impacts.
