The higher the temperatures, the faster the atoms move. If the temperatures are high enough, the atoms may move apart changing the state of the object.

What are atoms of the substance that are farther apart and move faster than a solid yet not as fast as a gas?

Liquid.

Why are gas can be compressed into smaller volume but solid cannot?

The atoms in air are farther apart than the atoms in a solid.

Why is the density of a substance in a gaseous state much less than its density in liquid or solid state?

Because the atoms or molecules in a gas are several orders of magnitude further apart than they are in a liquid or solid.

When liquid becomes a solid it had to?

When liquid becomes a solid it has to loose temperature. Because when a substance transforms into solid from liquid the atoms of that substance has to come closer to form the solid form.

What solid in witch the atoms are arranged in an orderly repeating substance?

The answer is crystals

What are the physical changes Of a solid when heat is added?

the molecules/atoms start to vibrate and become either a liquid or gas, depending on the temperature and the solidification/evaporation points of the substance in question.

What happen to a substance when it is heated?

The velocity of the atoms/molecules (that the substance is made of) increase.

What happens when a substance changes state from liquid to a solid?

The molecules/atoms move far apart. As the separation between paricles increase, the state is changed. The temperature does not rise because the heat is used to overcome inter-molecular forces.

The arrangement of bonded atoms or ions within a substance?

It would depend not only on the atoms or ions within the substance but whether it is in an aqueous solution or a solid or gas.

Can a solid become a liquid by slowing it's atoms?

well, a solid has the slowest atoms, they are placed closely together, and because of that, they cannot move much. A liquid has faster atoms, placed slightly farther apart, allowing them to move faster. So, no, liquid atoms are faster than solid atoms P.S. just so you know, the atoms of a gas move the fastest, and are placed the farthest apart of the three

What causes the density of the substance to be high?

Remember that substances around us are basically made up of atoms. The general tendency is that substances with massive ("heavy") atoms are denser. However, the distance between the atoms is also quite relevant. For example, in a gas the density can be 1000 times less or so, compared to the SAME substance in the solid state - simply because the atoms are farther apart in a gas.

What type of solid is formed when a collection of atoms is repeated in the same arrangement over and over throughtout a substance?

a crystalline solid
