Occult
Occult
This astronomical event is called a transit. It occurs when a smaller celestial body, such as a planet, passes in front of a larger one, like a star, as observed from a different vantage point, such as Earth. Transits are interesting phenomena that provide valuable information for astronomical research and can also be observed from Earth.
aphelion
The word celestial comes from the same roots as heavens (or sometimes sky); usually a celestial event would usually be considered to be something that takes place beyond the earth's atmosphere. A celestial event might be something like an eclipse or occultation, a star going nova, a planetary transition, etc.
"eclipse"
A supernova is not a celestial body in itself, but rather an astronomical event where a star suddenly increases greatly in brightness due to an explosive burst of energy. It is the result of the death of a massive star.
Aphelion occurred on July 4th, 2014. It was the point the the earth was farthest from the sun.
An accultation is another word for an occultation, an astronomical event in which one celestial object is hidden by another which passes between it and the observer.
no
There was one significant asteroid impact in 1908 - the Tunguska event. It is possible that smaller asteroids hit Earth after that. There was a smaller asteroid/meteor impact more recently - the Chelyabinsk event in 2013.
n event A is said to be less probable than an event B if the probability of A occurring is smaller than that of B occurring.
