I don't think there is a limit I was diagnosed with Type 1 (juvenile Diabetes) at 26 yrs old, I was told its rare and its possible i have had it longer and not known(i was a heavy drinker) it could have masked some symptoms but when I did get sick I got really sick near death I was very lucky that I found out on time. best advice is to know the symptoms and be careful, I experienced drastic wieghtloss uncontrollable hunger and thirst(my body couldn't process food for energy) frequent urination, fruity breath, shakyness, fatigue, II was also very lethargic thinking (I'll be fine i just need to relax) I literally had family members come to my house and drag me to the ER, I was very lucky I was in DKA diabetic keto acidosis, I was in the hospitol on IV's for almost 2 weeks, best bet is to watch the symtpoms and inform yourself so that you can be careful its really a scarey experience but once controlled you can live a normal happy healthy life, I feel better and have more energy now then I have had in years.

Most people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are diagnosed after the age of 30, but generally before the age of 40. This isn't when people get diabetes, just when people are diagnosed. You could have diabetes for several years prior to getting diagnosed.
