My 12 year old dog was still going into heat and had her first litter at that age. She only had 2 pups and neither survived We had no idea she was even pregnant. She was a schnauzer She had to be put down at 13 :( But my opinion is they go into heat till they die)
Hope this helps
Dogs NEVER 'quit having puppies', however, males & females do become a bit less fertile with age.
It's the owner's job to prevent the dogs from having puppies to late.
Think about it this way.
The best age to spay a former breeding dog is 6 or 7, for males, you can wait till 9 if he's healthy & fit. Anyway, you should stop letting the dogs breed, or breeding the dogs by 8yrs.
Being mammals like us, the males may breed as long as they are physically able to mount a female . The females will eventually cease to come in heat, much as human women enter into menopause, and thus the season for breeding is over for them .
Like most mammals, dogs do not usually completing stop producing sperm unless the dog's testicles have been removed. However, as they age, the quality and quantity of sperm generally decreases.
never - female dogs unlike humans never stop going on heat
About 10yrs to 13yrs. Although all dogs stop at a diffrent time, but thaat is the usuall
that would depend on type of dog and life expectancy
They do not stop. That is why you spay your dog.
Unless he has been neutered he can mate.
About 6 months (for a male) to one year old.
