In my own opinion, the most amazing things about us humans that set us apart from other animals include: 1) Consciousness, we are aware of our own being. We are aware of our own existence and have the ability to question our existence. 2) We are capable of complex thoughts and mental time travel. We can ask questions like Why and How. We can mentally travel to past experiences and then extrapolate form them when we encounter (or prepare for) similar experiences in the future.
A fetus does not eat through the digestive system, so there is nothing to turn into feces. The umbilical cord feeds the fetus, provides oxygen, and removes wastes. Therefore, the fetus doesn't have to eat or breathe on its own.
