absolutaly NOT! what does any child in the matter understand when you slap or hit them? in my own words and experience I only understood "OUCH"...but did I understand not to do what ever I did not again? no! You need to talk talk and talk to your children! I implicated the talk rule to my children, never did I raise a hand on them and I can honestly say that I am so proud of them and I am also a single mom that raised my children since the age of 2 and 7.
If you are 13 years of age, you should be playing with children around your age .eg. children aged 11, 12, 13 or 14.
