Atmega32
Which building holds more people, the Empire State Building or a skyscraper? The ATmega8535 is a kind of 8-bit Atmel AVR microcontroller. People building Arduino boards prefer the Atmega168, which is very similar to the ATmega8535 but has more RAM and program space (but, alas, fewer I/O pins). If you really want to see controversy, try asking: which is better, AVR or PIC?
The difference is base on the requirement of their0 application.
basically we can't differenciate b/w pic and atmel ..pic is being manufactured by microchio ..
The PIC is a specific architecture of microcontroller.
PIC Microcontroller which means Peripheral Interface Controller. PIC Microcontroller is originally developed by General Instrument's Microelectronics Division.
interface are inbuilt

the 18f is just more like a brand name like do you want a Krispy Creme donut or the stuff no ones ever heard of? hah
The PIC is the most supported MCU on the net and also the most popular by far otherwise there is no real reason to use the PIC over a ATMEL, one can get a device in both the families that can be ideal for your need.

No, pic16f877A is powered by a 8 bits pic core. the 877A is an upgrade for the 877 version. same for the sister microcontroller pic16f876A and pic16f876. I ve been fan of this microcontroller for years. It is powerful and you can do a lot of thing with it. You can you can have it from www tmartis com together with many other stuff that you can purchase together. I always do my purchases from there. Have fun
Answer It is both 8 bit processors in a 40 pin package but it is not pin compatible, it have almost the same functions but it is very difficult to compare the two because it is not the same family.
