I assume you mean Daphne and it should not be pruned... it should be pulled out. The Daphne is an invasive weed and has extremely toxic blueberry-like berries. I once brought a Daphne home from the woods to have as a houseplant because of it's beautiful foliage. Once I found out that it was toxic I destroyed it. If you have an abundance of Daphne you can get a tool called a Pullerbear to pull it out of the ground by it's roots. Hope this helps!
Best to prune outdoor juniper bushes in early spring(March or April in the northeast US) to allow ample time for regrowth before winter sets in. If you prune too close to winter, there's not enough time for the regrowth to occur and the bush could be damaged.
Daphne Chart has written: 'Art of our time.'
If you mean a beech hedge then August in the Northern Hemispere is best. If it is a tree there should be no need to prune it other than to shape it and you can do this at any time. If you do that too often it will become a hedge and be best done in August.
