When they need pruning.
I've read to prune after flowering.
Daphnes are shrubs with green leaves tipped with yellow. Their flowers called Daphne odora, are whitish pink.
As most evergreen shrubs, it is better to prune them in early spring just before new growth begins.
The answer is shears
To prune boxwood shrubs, use sharp shears to trim back any overgrown or dead branches. Shape the shrub by cutting back to a bud or branch junction. Avoid cutting into old wood as it may not regrow. Prune in early spring before new growth appears for best results.
You should only prune shrubs when it is neccessary. Pruning causes more growth so if you are pruning because the shrub is outgrowing its space then it is in the wrong place.
Pruning shears are the standard for small plants and shrubs. Larger shrubs and trees will need saws or tree trimmers. For big work a chainsaw or bow saw is a big help.

I assume you mean Daphne and it should not be pruned... it should be pulled out. The Daphne is an invasive weed and has extremely toxic blueberry-like berries. I once brought a Daphne home from the woods to have as a houseplant because of it's beautiful foliage. Once I found out that it was toxic I destroyed it. If you have an abundance of Daphne you can get a tool called a Pullerbear to pull it out of the ground by it's roots. Hope this helps!
most spring blooming shrubs require pruning after the blooms are gone, but before fall.
To bring shrubs back to life, you can start by trimming away any dead or damaged branches, ensuring they have enough water and sunlight, and applying fertilizer to help them recover. Additionally, you can prune them regularly to promote new growth and maintain their health.
The usual answer is immediately after they have flowered. If you prune them more than once a year they are called a hedge.
