If you are discussing the spiritual brotherhood of believers, then the bible is the history of believers. In that way, it can be your spiritual family history (if you are a believer).
History channel is not anti Bible, or anti Religion. History Channel is pro History. It just so happen that the question about the historicity of the Bible is top drawer of viewing audience. The History Channel just shows historical stuff, which happens to be some religion. It is not anti-Bible, however, it does show videos about it.
Some of the New Testament of the Holy Bible is a partial history of the life of Jesus of Nazareth.
There are 66 books of the Bible. Most of the 66 have some history in them. There are only about 2 that don't.
As with anything else, you put it to the test. Jehovah God is the author (2 Timothy 3:16), and He used men to physically write what He told them via His holy spirit. (2 Peter 1:20-21) With that being the case, it would make sense that we could trust the wisdom of a being whose thoughts are higher than our own. (Isaiah 55:9) For a more specific example, consider this. Jehovah says that if people would listen to His commandments, then people would be able to have peace and live good lives. (Isaiah 48:17-18) Consider just a handful of those: Don't steal (Exodus 20:15), don't murder (Exodus 20:13), no adultery (Exodus 20:14), don't lie (Exodus 20:16), don't covet (Exodus 20:17), and treat people the way we want to be treated. (Matthew 7:12) If everyone around the world one day decided to abide by just these few commands, imagine how drastically different life would be...and for the better, just like Jehovah said it would be. Another example would be how the Bible foretold what kind of attitudes would be common in today's society. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) Despite such thinking and actions being detrimental to society, the average person does know and or practices those very attitudes today. No other book has such knowledge within it that can be trusted as much. (New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)
History is the events that mark the passage of time.
The History Channel did not get the series, The Bible, renewed. This is because The Bible was only intended to run as a mini-series. This is the same as their other show, The Hatfields and the McCoys.
