Lights are required on a boat trailer to proven those from behind running into your boat trailer. This is especially important at dark where it is difficult to see an unlit trailer.

Lights are always required to be installed on a boat trailer. This is so no one runs into the back of the trailer, especially at night.
Lights are required to be installed on a trailer for a boat when the trailer is being towed on public roads, especially during low visibility conditions such as at night or in inclement weather. These lights typically include brake lights, turn signals, and taillights to ensure visibility and safety for other drivers. Additionally, if the trailer extends beyond the width of the towing vehicle, side marker lights may also be required. Always check local regulations, as requirements can vary by state or country.
Check the four fuses that are behind the seat that support the boat trailer lights.

I had a problem once with my 97 Ford F 150 where the brake lights were reversed. On all the time except when I pushed on the pedal on the wires that went to my boat trailer. It was a simple relay that was fried. Took it to Firestone and there "Master Repairman" said everything was off on the trailer electric connection. I knew that was incorrect because it used to work just fine. Took it to the Ford dealer and within 20 min diagnosed the problem with a cheap fix of about 30 dollars.
