Bones in bearded dragon beard?
There are no bones in a beardie's beard. The beard is a flap of skin that they fill with air to get their point across.
Bearded Dragons are called "Bearded Dragons" because when they are scared, angry, or annoyed they puff up their "beard," flatten their belly, and open their mouth (BTW, if you see a Bearded Dragon do this, you would want to get away from it!). Male Beardies have a black bearded so, when they do this position, they look bearded and look like a dragon.
After brumation, a bearded dragon's beard usually turns black because it wants to mate, and it usually gets hyper and runs around alot. Sometimes if a bearded dragon's beard keeps turning black, and it becomes listless, as if dead, be on guard. If this is happening, take your beardie to the vet right away.
When a bearded dragon gets scared, a pouch near the throat inflates and darkens, so as to intimidate the foe. They also look like small dragons. Also the beardie is showing off. My beardie looks at himself while he is sunbathing and just blows out his beard to show how strong or good he looks. He loves me to talk to him when he does it. He is so funny !
Bearded Dragons will only bite if a finger tip is in their view and close to them when feeding or hungry [but very rarly], the only other way is if it feels threated and its beard goes dark [also very rare]. But tame ones rarely bite and spend alot of their time basking and eating. HOLD YOUR BEARDED DRAGON SEVERAL TIMES A DAY TO TAME THEM!!!
It is Because your bearded dragon has got a disease called paracotis. It is quite common in bearded dragons but can become serious if not checked. I would go for a health check and see if this is the case. If it is you should receive some anti biotic. If the anti bio-tics don't work your beard dragon might die. I'm only joking the anti bio tics should definitely work.
