yes you have brakes on your Saturn. no the planet Saturn does not offer breaks of any kind not even lunch or coffee breaks
yes you are screwed if the chain breaks
There is no cam belt it is driven by a chain.
On or the other not both
i have a 2002 saturn ls2. my transmission jerks in first and second gear and when i put on breaks. what should i do?
Yes, if the timing chain breaks a valve will hit a piston, causing significant internal damage. The good news is, the timing chain seldom breaks. The bad news is, if YOURS was one of the few that did break, the engine is toast.
There is no Fan belt. There is a serpentine belt however. If this breaks do NOT run the car. This belt turns the water pump keeping your engine cool. You will have major issues if the engine overheats.
Take it to the shop.. Dont want to mess with your breaks and unless you have a machine you need to file them down also..
Unfortunately yes. The Saturn motor is considered an Interference motor. When the chain breaks the neutral landing position of the camshafts will allow valves to be open, as the engine slows down from its rotating mass it will bend these open valves.
I have a 2004 Saturn Ion with 108,214 miles on it. I change my oil every 3000 miles, and flush the trasmission out every 50000 miles. The only parts i had to replace so far were the breaks twice, and the wheel bearings. The cars still running great.
It has a belt that must be changed every 100,000 miles. WARNING: This is an interference engine and if the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage.
