∙ 14y agoIt is all to do with hormones. When the woman is ready to give birth, a hormone is released which makes the uterus to contract and causes her to go into labour.
The release of this hormone causes another hormone to be released (prolactin) which causes breast milk to be produced because her body knows she is about to have off spring to feed.
That is the reason why breast milk is only produced when the woman is pregnant.
