NO YOU CAN NOT. THE AXEL SHAFT IS WHAT HOLDS THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS TOGETHER,WHEN YOU TIGHTEN THE BIG NUT IN THE CENTER OF THE WHEEL. ARE ON THE END OF THE AXELSHAFT.
