Try putting it in gear with the engine off. If it'll go, your clutch system is not working correctly - my first thought is air in the hydraulic system between the pedal cylinder and the clutch cylinder, because it's the easiest thing to fix. Just bleed the clutch and see what happens.
If it has 4wheel drive, put it in neutral on the 4wheel drive shifter and put the regular shifter in 4th gear, if not I cant help you.AnswerIf it has 4wheel drive, put it in neutral on the 4wheel drive shifter and put the regular shifter in 4th gear, if not I cant help you.
Youmight have transaxle problems.
I had this problem and it turned out that there was a recall on that.
i have 2003 ford ex cape and my ford ex cape i cant get the shifter to go into gear what possibly could be wrong
shifter rod gear linkage
could be the bushings located just below the shifter or perhaps the shift fork is broken or bent
To replace the gear shifter on your bike, follow these steps: Begin by removing the old gear shifter by loosening the bolt or screw that holds it in place. Slide off the old gear shifter and disconnect any cables attached to it. Install the new gear shifter by sliding it onto the handlebar and reattaching any cables. Tighten the bolt or screw to secure the new gear shifter in place. Test the new gear shifter to ensure it is functioning properly before riding your bike.
your shifter linkage is probably broken.
To adjust the shifter on a VW bus, first, ensure the bus is in neutral and the shift rod is properly aligned. Locate the adjustment screw on the shifter mechanism, typically found under the shift boot. Loosen the screw slightly, then shift the transmission into the correct gear position while adjusting the shifter to ensure it engages smoothly. Finally, tighten the screw and test the shifting to confirm proper alignment and functionality.
if you mean it wont go into gear and it grinds like a sob but other gears still work synchronizers. if you mean the shifter is loose an cant find the gear anymore - linkage. if it wont go into any gear sounds like a clutch problem
Just put the gear shifter into od and go.Just put the gear shifter into od and go.
If it is popping out of gear only under acceleration and not other times this could mean there is a transaxle problem. May be time for a rebuild. Make sure there are no problems with the shifter bushings both under the shifter and at the transaxle nosecone. Otherwise be prepared to get a new transaxle.
