theres no such thing as passing the shsat. Its about getting past the cut line of the school you want to go to, which, in this case is Brooklyn tech. The cutoff for 2009 was around 480, so if you received a score higher, then congratulations! The shsat has no biased entry system, so if you believe that you have been cheated of your entry, call the DOE.
the school gives you a paper telling you if you passed or failed early February
You have to audition for LaGuardia to get on to it.
To take the SHSAT is free of charge.
The lowest you can get is about 510 but not less
You will need to take the SHSAT ( specialized high schools admission test) and pass the cut off score in order to get in. (: *Wishing good luck to the people who are taking those tests! ^-^
I got into the Bronx High School of Science with a 652.
Yes, but you don't have to attend school in NYC to be eligible.
The department of education does not release the cutoff scores to the public. However, the averages range from 472 for Brooklyn Latin to 565 for Stuyvesant.

When varies every year, but that information should come from your high school counselor at school, so do not worry. As for where, it depends on where you live. For example, if you live in Queens, you should be taking it at Long Island High School. Manhattan students take it at Stuyvesant High School. However, please do confirm all information with your guidance counselor. If you don't ask to apply for the SHSAT with your counselor, hell will break loose. Hope that helps!
The results for the SHSAT come back in early March. Usually near March 10.
