Yes! You can and I'm very sure of it!

unless you are a monk or nun then you cannot marry.

ANSWER NO. 2

There is no doubt in the possibility of marrying a non Buddhist person. This is for the following reasons:

1. Buddhism is not useful for the kind of feelings, practice, ideas or intuitions that differentiate sentient beings ( Not just humans) in any way, means or by implications. That's why, we say " May all beings be happy". It means all living beings.

2. Buddhism doesn't interfere with normal social traditions, provided the actions involved are humanistic and appreciable from karmic view points. therefore, again it is not appreciable if the marriage is affected by other castes or religions. Therefore, Being not a Buddhist is actually being a Buddhist.

3. Concepts and ideas about dualities ..like good caste and poor caste or this religion and that religions are basically the biggest ignorance as per Buddhism. Why? it is becoz we are ignorant at the very basic level where we are failed to understand own fellows. Then where is the question and hope of understanding things which are intangibly inestimable and invisible. Therefore, not marrying a non Buddhist person, just because he/she is a non Buddhist is the basic failure and most serious failure in the Buddhist himself/herself.

may all beings be happy.

For Information:Even a monk or nun can marry by becoming back a layman. Buddha said, a man/nun who was a monk/nun is far more and even very more improved than a pure layman on the path of Buddhism. Because, finally, Buddhism is about the minds not in the dresses. A monk is because he/she wanted to give more time for that by eliminating himself/herself from the worldly engagements. So, you can become a monk/nun for even a month..u r better than me...i m sure.If you find a monk or nun married without becoming back a layman, then?

Answer:

1. He/She is neither excellent ( not in the sangha) nor worst (Better than a laymen who rapes).

2. The only reason a monk/nun can not marry ( By the Buddha) is that , by human factors, he/she can not concentrate as good as an unmarried monk. This is the reason he made it one condition among the rest for joining the Sangha.
