Yes, you can use bleach in the spa, but there are a few precautions you must take first. You must make sure that you are only using regular bleach, not something with whiteners & brighteners, lemon scented, all-fabric, color-safe, etc. Straight Sodium Hypochlorite. Next, you still need to use something in the water to maintain a regular sanitizer level. The bleach works great as a shock, but it dissapates rather rapidly (which is why it's a great shock). Also, you need to test the spa water to make certain that the chlorine level has dropped down to a normal level before using the spa. Previous comments by others concerning no sanitization from bleach, bleach leaving a bad smell, only 3% strength, certain early equipment failure due to bleach use,and the need to rinse everything in the spa if you have ever used bleach are alarmist, unfounded and inaccurate. By the way, Clorox and others are generally around 5 1/2% strength, though the strength gradually depletes as it sits on the shelf, especially in a warm area. The comments previously posted concerning the corrosiveness of bleach and the hazards of mixing it with other chemicals are true, however they are also true about dry chlorine, bromine and pH reducer. Standard precautions prevail, including:

1. Never mix chemicals together in concentration, even two different types of chlorine. If you do, the results can be dangerous or deadly. Using different chemicals in your pool or spa, however, is fine because they have been fully diluted at that point. 2. Never handle concentrated chemicals with your bare hands, wash your hands after use, and only use in a well ventilated area.

You can, but it's really a waste of money. Bleach contains about 12-15% chlorine, as does regular liquid chlorine.

You're much better off getting Calcium Hypochloride. This is a granular chlorine, safer, lighter, and about 68% chlorine.

Get a tab floater and keep it full at all times. Tabs contain cyanuric acid which helps stabilize your chlorine.

Yes you can. Bleach is a good alternative and a little less expensive than regular chlorine.
i suppose you could but its in the 'swimming pool' section. bleach is harmful to you and i dont think anyone would want to swim in a pool wiht bleach in it :S

Bleach has many of the same properties as liquid chlorine. It's used as a sanitizer. I prefer granular chlorine but that has a higher pH level of 12 so if people's fill water pH is already high, then either liquid chlorine or bleach is a good alternative.

No, it will ruin your pool and do you really want to swim around in Clorox? Chlorine kills fungus and bacteria in your pool that bleach can't.
