This is kind of a two-part answer, because I'm not sure about the question. 1 - Halo (the original) will work on XP, and should work on Vista. 2 - Halo 2 will only work on Vista.

Halo: Combat Evolved is avilable for windows XP and Vista, and Halo 2 is available for Vista. Both are available at retail stores that sell PC games, and online. Currently there is no PC option for Halo 3.

Halo 3 is currently exclusive to xbox360. It is unlikely that Halo 3 will ever be released for PC.

Yes. However, you must make sure that the version of Halo 2 you are trying to play is the PC edition rather than the XBOX version. It should read "Halo 2 for Vista" or something similar. Now this does NOT mean it is only compatible with Vista. Halo 2 is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7, but not Windows XP.
Why is Halo 2 PC on vista and cant be on Xp?
Obviously, because Vista wasn't around at the time Halo 2 for PC was made, and this therefore makes Halo 2 incompatible for Vista

Possibly. However mainly when you buy the Halo wars copy it will be imprinted "Only for xbox 360" but i think about a year later Windows vista/xp may get it available on PC.

sadly no, i thought i could run halo 2 on any vista computer when i got halo 2 pc. windows home premium doesnt have good enough gaming quality rating, and its by like 2 points or something like that. so youll have to upgrade ur pc or just buy a better computer. freakn sucks
