UK answer only: Yes but you need a three-pin to two-pin adaptor. Alternatively fit a three-pin plug to the light and leave the earth pin disconnected. This can only be done if the lamp already has a two-wire cable fitted to it, anything else is potentially dangerous.

es as long as you use the correct terminals internally and the lights are fit for purpose i.e. Are set for the domestic electrical current of your mains supply.

A three cord line should not be attached to a two pin plug unless the cord has a two pin plug on it and the three pin ins two to three pin plug adaptor as these are configured to ground the earth line

Can you plug a 2 prong extension cord into a 3 prong extension cord?

I don't know about an extension cord, but they do sell plug adabters. You can pick them up at any hardware store or even Wal-Mart. They are ussaully grey or orange , and look like the plug end of the extension cord. One end will have the 2 prong, the other side will have the slots to plug in the three prong.

Can a microwave be plugged into an extension cord?

Yes, as long as the extension cord is rated for the load. Most microwave ovens use 1000W or more, some less. A standard two wire extension cord would be unsafe. There are, however, extension cords which have the proper gauge of wire and the necessary 3-prong outlets which a microwave would need to operate safely.

Which wire has greater resistance a light plugged into an extension cord or a light plugged directly into a wall?

Light and an extension cord. The extension cord will act as an added resistor in series. The more cord you add will only increase the overall resistance from the wall outlet. If you use a high gage extension cord, this will help reduce the resistance. But any cord will add resistance. If the gage is low, then the cord will actually heat up and you will be able to feel the heat. That is due to the resistance within the cord. You just moved in your new home and the outlet for the dryer is a 3 prong your dryer is a 4 prong you should you do?

Change either the plug or the cord. The fourth prong is another ground. It would be easier to change the cord.

How do you set up outdoor Christmas lights?

You have to get an extension cord and plug them into it and then plug the extension cord somewhere in your house, if you do not have some type of outdoor outlet. You might try to get the extension cord through a window and then close the window as much as possible.
