No they shouldn't be mixed as they have different viscosity

Actually, yes you can......but you are wasting your money. Mixing the two reduces, significantly, the positive effects of the synthetic oil. Only do it if you have to, but they are compatible.

There are oils available that are a synthetic blend of standard oil and synthetic oil.

Can you use synthetic oil in a small Kolar engine?

If your engine leaks oil, no you should not use synthetic oil because it will clean sludge and can make the leak worse. If your engine does not leak oil, I would highly recomend using synthetic oil(Pennzoil Ultra 10W30 from Walmart is a good and pretty cheap choice). As long as your engine does not leak oil using synthetic oil is a great choice regardless of how old it is.

Should you use synthetic oil in your 1996 cutlass supreme?

Not if the engine is original and has more than 100,000 km on it. In that case, just use a high viscosity 20W-50 standard oil. Synthetic oil is expensive and is of no benefit in an old engine. If the engine has had a full, quality re- biuld, then use synthetic oil, and you'll get a longer life from the engine.

Why is synthetic engine oil superior and when is it recommended to be used?

Synthetic engine oil is considered better because it does not break down as fast. thus, if u use it as normal (tho its twice the cost) u almost have no probability of having too much friction inside your engine due to ur oil. Synthetic motor oil is recommended in almost every new car today. Although, most dealerships do not use it, cause it is very expensive.

What kind of oil is the best oil to use?

It is always best to use the oil recommended by your vehicle manufacture. If you are considering the difference between Synthetic oil and Conventional (pumped from the ground); if your owner's manual says to use synthetic, you need to use synthetic. But if your engine was designed around conventional, then you can upgrade to synthetic. Synthetic has advantages as being better at cleaning and protection your engine, but if you have a higher mileage vehicle, synthetic can cause leakage of the gaskets and oil seals.
