Can you replace a 60 watt incandescent bulb with a larger led bulb?

LED bulbs com in different powers, so there's no way to tell. At a guess a 10W LED might compare to a 60W incandescent.

Why won't a three way lamp switch work with a wall controlled outlet?

Not wanting to state the obvious but the wall switch has to be turned on to supply voltage to the outlet. The lamp will need a three way light bulb in the lamp. A three way bulb uses two filaments of different lengths. One element is used for low brightness, the other filament for medium brightness and the high brightness setting uses both filaments in the bulb. If a single filament ordinary light bulb is used in place of a three way light bulb there will be a position on the three way lamp switch where the bulb will not light. Find the position on the lamp where the bulb will light and leave it there. Use the wall switch to turn the lamp off and on through the controlled receptacle.

Can a 100 watt bulb be substituted for a 3-way bulb?

Yes, you can use a regular bulb in a 3-way lamp. You won't get the 3-way effect though, the regular bulb will just turn on and off.

What way does the ground plug on a receptacle face?

Is positioning the ground blade in the up position the correct way to install a three holed duplex receptacle by the electrical code?

There is no mention in the CEC as to which way a receptacle is to be positioned. The most common way is to have the ground pin in the down position. This way, if something drops on the plug (cap) when it is in the receptacle, the last pin to disconnect will be the ground pin. Some manufactures of appliances have 90 degree plugs (caps) installed on their equipment to present a low profile when in the receptacle. The ground pin in these types of caps is positioned to the top and the hot and neutral blades are below it. On connections like this the receptacle is mounted with the ground up to allow the appliance cord to drop down when it is plugged in. Still other applications will find the receptacle mounted sideways, usually in the back splash of kitchen counters when there is an absence of space to mount them vertically.

How long can a led lights last?

An led light can last way longer then an regular like bulb. They don't have any filaments, which mean they don't get hot. Depending what you use an led for they will definitely last longer which is from 50,000 to 100,000 hours

How do you check amperage pull on a receptacle?

If you know the wattage is getting pulled from a receptacle you can use simple math to do it for you. If not you need to use an Ampere meter. This i do not recommend as there would be no simple way to do without having to use loose wires and such. To calculate this take the wastage and divide it by the voltage in your socket (Usually 230V but can also be 110V in some areas). To give you an example. a 60w bulb in a 230v area would pull. 60W/230v = 0.26ampere.

How do you remove the drivers side headlight on a 2001 F150?

I'm not positive, but most Ford trucks now have a bulb that can be replaced by opening the hood and coming to it from behind the light. The bulb receptacle usually twists one way or the other to loosen

How do you replace the Tag light bulb on a 1999 ford expedition?

Open tailgate door. There are two or three screws above the tail light housing. Remove the screws and pull lends housing out replace light bulbs and installation is reverse of removal. In order to replace the Tag lights, you can access them from the back side of the bumper. If you are underneath the vehicle, you will see a receptacle on the back of both tag lights. Turn the receptacle counter clockwise and it will easily pull straight out. The bulb itself pulls out, and you press the new one in. Try not to touch the bulb with your bare fingers, use either rubber gloves or at least a paper towel. Press the new bulb in, and the receptacle goes back in the same way it came out. Once it is in place, it will "slip" in, then turn it clockwise to lock it in place.

How do you loosen a light bulb that is stuck in the fixture?

One way to loosen a light bulb that is stuck in the fixture is to break the bulb. You can then use half of a potato to unscrew the bulb from the fixture. You can also make a loop with duct tape, adhere the middle of the loop to the light bulb. Use the two ends to twist the bulb out of the fixture.

What is the proper way to test a receptacle?

The simplest way to test a receptacle is to use a plug-in type receptacle tester. This tester indicates either proper operation or common miswirings of the receptacle. If the receptacle is a GFCI, there is a special type of plug-in tester that has a GFCI trip button on top. This tester indicates the same things as the other one. In addition, you can press the test button to create a small ground fault, which will trip a properly operating GFCI. ---- IF YOU'RE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOBSAFELY AND COMPETENTLYREFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.If you do any work yourself, always turn off the power at the breaker box/fuse panel BEFORE you attempt to do any work and always use a meter or voltage indicator to insure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.
