It would really depend on the machine you are using. If it has an x86-compatible processor, probably. Otherwise, no. The ASUS Eee PC would be an example of a device that often comes with Linux, but can run Windows as well. A cell phone or PDA would be an example of a device that this would probably not be possible for.

∙ 14y agoNo. The processor in the Elonex ONEt is a MIPS processor. No modern version of Windows runs on MIPS processors, and the older ones are both likely incompatible with the hardware and have virtually no software available for them.

∙ 10y agoYes, you can switch from XP (or any other Windows) to Linux. Some specialised programs may not run on Linux (Ubuntu, Linux Mint, being 2 popular distributions). Others may run on Wine. So ensure you can use one of many open-source alternatives.
