This doesn't mean that they have physical proof or evidence that it is true. They have studied the scriptures and prayed, and then had a religious experience in which they felt that the truth was confirmed within their heart or spirit. This experience of receiving personal confirmation of the truth is one of the central focuses of Church teaching.
