Honestly, probably not. The ship of state has so much inertia that whose hand is on the tiller is a relatively minor effect.

Much of it is thinly veiled racism. Obama's father was born in Kenya, and many Americans are uncomfortable with a black man being President.
A recent CNN poll placed Americans' approval of same-sex marriage at 53%. The Rasmussen Report cites President Barack Obama's approval rating as being merely 42%. Therefore, more Americans approve of same-sex marriage than approve of Barack Obama's performance as president.
I don't think Obama is all too fond of convicted felons, to be honest. And as for employment, President Obama is adamant that all Americans are given the right to a job. :)
Your question assumes a falsehood. President Obama has not passed more tax increases on Middle America than any other President. In fact, President Obama has loweredtaxes on most Americans.
