People that have RA have a Greater Osteoporosis Risks

It has been found that there is an increased risk of bone loss and fracture in individuals with R A. These people are at an increased risk for many reasons, Medications Like prednisone are often prescribed in the treatment of RA and can trigger significant bone loss. Pain and the disease can lead to loss of joint function, leading to inactivity, further increasing the risk of osteoporosis. it is also theorised that bone loss in R A may be a direct result of the disease. This loss is most pronounced in the areas surrounding the affected joints.
