Children often take to nude beaches more easily than adults because as children there are less complex feelings and social expectations when it comes to removing clothing. Many parents report having difficulty keeping swimsuits or clothing on their children when visiting any beach or pool, and most clothing-optional campgrounds and nudist resorts are "family oriented" and maintain restrictions on the numbers of unaccompanied persons (particularly males).

If a nude beach follows the etiquette guidelines of established social nudism, then children are always accompanied by parents or legal guardians and kept a close eye on. The same rules as would apply to young children in any social setting continue to apply at nude beaches and clothing-optional resorts.

Unaccompanied children under the age of eighteen (18) are never permitted to enter clothing-optional campgrounds or resorts. Since many clothing-optional beaches are "Unofficial" or otherwise not sanctioned by local parks and recreation authorities or governments, the rules there may be different. However, it seems likely that unaccompanied children will not be found at any C.O. beaches due to the beaches being farther away from population centers and often difficult to access.

In other countries around the world family access to and use of nude swimming areas is commonplace. However there are some countries where the rules regarding bathing attire are STRICTLY enforced and even the sexes may be required to swim in separate areas. So the social practices, traditions, ordinances and rules regarding nudity at beaches vary widely and beach-goers should carefully determine which ones apply at the beach before venturing to them.
