A responsible 12-year-old can be left alone for 2-5 hours regularly or 3-6 hours on occasion, and perhaps up to 8 hours only once a year--so long as he or she has the ability to contact an adult for help or assistance at any hour at any time (and so long as an adult is aware he or she is being left alone and can check up on him or her).
An irresponsible 12-year-old shouldn't be left alone for more than 4 hours.
yes you can only if you know the status of the teenager before departure and also you should be able to trust him/her. yes you can if only you know the status of the teenager before departure and also you should be able to trust him/her. yes you can if only you know the status of the teenager before departure and also you should be able to trust him/her.
It depends where you live. Some states require children be 14 years old to stay home alone and other states do not have any restrictions on ages.
in my opinion, no. Better to be safe than sorry.
yesss of course they can they are old enough!!
It is legal... it is a matter of trust.
12 in Indiana, but there are time restrictions with that. In Canada a child at the age of 11 years can go to a home alone course and after that they can stay home alone.
12 years old
In Maryland, the minimum age of leaving a child home alone is 8 years. Depending on the maturity of the child, I'd say that a 12 year old can be left home alone for the daytime, but overnight, the child should be at least 15.
It all depends on how long they let stay home alone. When I was 10, they let me stay at home for up to an hour. When I was 12, I could stay home for up to 3 hours. When I was 14, I was baby-sitting, so I could stay home alone for however long I wanted. Hope this helps!!
Absolutely NOT!!! No matter how responsible, 16 years old is not an appropriate age to stay home alone for that amount of time.

A child must be at least 12 years old to stay home alone in Delaware. At this age, they can also babysit other children and siblings.
