Literally, yes. The parents don't need to officially sign anything as long as this is an informal arrangement that everyone is happy with. It's probably a good idea to go ahead and make it official so that school officials know where the child should be going to school, but until someone complains, this will work.
Now, if the parents object, it's a completely different matter. A child is not allowed to live with anyone, not even a relative, without the consent of either the parents or a court.
Only with parental consent. You can not choose until you are 18.
yes, as long as the parents agree to allow their child to live with their grandparents its fine as long as the grandparents can support the child.
For the grandparents to get the custody over the parent, they have to go through a court case and prove to their case to have custody.
You can give it, but it doesn't mean anything.
It depends on where you live, but in my experience the answer is no, only with the biological parent(s).
There is the option of you being able to live with your grandparents if that's possible. But it really depends on the state you live in. You would have to check with Child Protective Services to get more information.
What it requires is a court order. Without one, it doesn't matter how "unhappy" the child is, they have to live with their parents.
No, the minor cannot choose until he is 18. Until then he needs parental consent.
The grandparents can request custody but unless there is a very good reason the court will award custody to the biological parent(s).The grandparents can request custody but unless there is a very good reason the court will award custody to the biological parent(s).The grandparents can request custody but unless there is a very good reason the court will award custody to the biological parent(s).The grandparents can request custody but unless there is a very good reason the court will award custody to the biological parent(s).
If the parents are divorced then it is between the parents if the child can go live with the other parent. At age 14 the child can choose witch parent he/she wont's to live with. If that other parent is not willing to let the child go live with that parent then it can be taken to court or just wait till the child is 18 and can go live on it's own.
In most states, yes. Having a child does not emancipate you. Would be easier to answer if you let us know where you live.
At her grandparents home in Atchison, Kansas
A 16-year-old cannot leave home without parental consent. If they do and the parents call the police (and I'm assuming they would) then the police will pick the child up and return him/her home. Despite the fact that you are family, it is possible that you (the grandparent) could be charged with something along the lines of harboring a runaway/interring with child custody/contributing to the delinquency of a minor/etc (the exact charges depending on where you live). The grandparent can petition the court for custody, but unless they are able to prove the parents to be unfit in some way...
