No, the legal age of majority in S.C. is 18. Anyone allowing a minor to reside in their home without having the consent of the minor's parents or legal guardian can be subject to criminal and civil penalties. The situation would qualify as a relationship between an adult and a minor, therefore there would be several state statutes that would be applicable, including possible criminal charges brought against the "adult" male.

In Britain Yes.At 16 she is a legally consenting adult and therefore can stay at her boyfriends home. However, if this is about your daughter don't jump the gun and think she's having Intercourse. Since you have already looked this up you probably don't trust your daughter as much as you should and therefore I think you should really have a good heart to heart with her about what it really means to be a consenting adult and how to make sure she takes care of herself. Whether she stays over or not she's still going to find a way to make love with her boyfriend. All you can do is make sure they aren't doing it outside and they are being safe. Be a good parent and just talk to her about why your worried. She can handle an adult conversation now and is old enough to have kids. Do you want to be a grandma or grandad? No, didn't think so. Make sure she's safe- WITHOUT SCARE TACTICS ABOUT AIDS/HIV/CHLYMIDIA ETC ETC. She doesn't need to fear having intercourse, just understand the emotional and physical depth that it goes to. Thanks

It is unlikely for the boyfriend's parents to get arrested for letting you stay the night at their house without your parents' permission, unless they are breaking a specific law related to the situation, like harboring a runaway minor. However, it is important to communicate openly with both sets of parents to ensure everyone is comfortable with the situation.
